Self help groups (shg) are small groups of poor people. They help each other, to solve their problems. Shg promote small savings among their members. Self-help groups shg are informal associations of people who choose to come together to find ways to improve their living conditions. Economic empowerment through shg provides women the confidence for participation in decision making affairs at the household-level as well as at the community-level. Shg is a holistic programmer of micro-enterprises covering all aspects of self-employment, organization of the rural poor into self help groups and their capacity building, planning of activity clusters, infrastructure build up, technology, credit and marketing.
